چکیده

In discrete tomography, a scanned object is assumed to consist of only a few different materials. This prior knowledge can be effectively exploited by a specialized discrete reconstruction algorithm such as the Discrete Algebraic Reconstruction Technique (DART), which is capable of providing more accurate reconstructions from limited data compared to conventional reconstruction algorithms. However, like most iterative reconstruction algorithms, DART suffers from long computation times. To increase the computational efficiency as well as the reconstruction quality of DART, a multiresolution version of DART (MDART) is proposed, in which the reconstruction starts on a coarse grid with big pixel (voxel) size. The resulting reconstruction is then resampled on a finer grid and used as an initial point for a subsequent DART reconstruction. This process continues until the target pixel size is reached. Experiments show that MDART can provide a significant speed-up, reduce missing wedge artefacts and improve feature reconstruction in the object compared with DART within the same time, making its use with large datasets more feasible.

DART : A practical reconstruction algorithm 1 for discrete tomography

In this paper, we present an iterative reconstruction algorithm for discrete tomography, 4 called DART (Discrete Algebraic Reconstruction Technique). DART can be applied if the scanned 5 object is known to consist of only a few different compositions, each corresponding to a constant 6 grey value in the reconstruction. Prior knowledge of the grey values for each of the compositions is 7 exploit...

SDART: An algorithm for discrete tomography from noisy projections

Computed tomography is a noninvasive technique for reconstructing an object from projection data. If the object consists of only a few materials, discrete tomography allows us to use prior knowledge of the gray values corresponding to these materials to improve the accuracy of the reconstruction. The Discrete Algebraic Reconstruction Technique (DART) is a reconstruction algorithm for discrete t...

Discrete Tomography in MRI: a Simulation Study

Discrete tomography (DT) is concerned with the tomographic reconstruction of images that consist of only a small number of grey levels. Recently, DART, a practical algorithm was introduced for discrete tomography, which was validated in the domain of X-ray computed and electron tomography. In this paper, DART is introduced for magnetic resonance imaging. Using simulation experiments, it is show...

1 3 D Imaging of Nanomaterials by Discrete Tomography

The field of discrete tomography focuses on the reconstruction of samples that consist of only a few different materials. Ideally, a 3D reconstruction of such a sample should contain only one grey level for each of the compositions in the sample. By exploiting this property in the reconstruction algorithm, either the quality of the reconstruction can be improved significantly, or the number of ...
